Special Recognitions

A Rochester Top 100 Company: #18 in 2012

In 2003, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011 and again in 2012 Surmotech was recognized as one of Rochester's Top 100 Companies by The Rochester Business Alliance and KPMG. To be eligible for this honor, Surmotech had to be among the fastest growing privately held companies headquartered in the Rochester region. With state-of-the-art technology, a focus on quality and superior customer service, Surmotech was able to achieve this recognition in a time of economic hardships for most companies in the manufacturing industry. Select Surmotech for your next project and we'll help take your company to the Top 100, too.

ISO Certifications

Securing lasting relationships with our clients is our primary goal. In pursuit of this objective, we obtained our orignial ISO 9002:1994 certification in September 1999 and, in January 2018, recertified our Quality Management System to meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 (Click here to view the ISO 9001:2015 Certificate of Conformance). In February of 2013 we received our ISO 13485:2003 certification, and in September 2016 recertification to ISO13485:2016 (Click here to view the ISO 13485:2016 Certificate of Conformance).

In a continued effort to support military and high reliability markets, Surmotech achieved our ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) registration status in 2008. ITAR is a set of United States government regulations that control the export and import of defense-related articles and services.

Electrostatic Discharge Policy

In keeping with the quest for excellence in all areas of our operation, Surmotech complies with the mandatory requirements of the ANSI/ESD S20.20 standard and maintains a static-free environment in our facility. This is necessary for adequate protection from static discharge and eliminates damage or loss due to electrostatic discharge.

Leap Year "Give Back Day" Program
For most people, leap years come and go without much effect on their lives. But Jerry Valentine was inspired by this extra day to give something back to the community so he created The Leap Year "Give Back Day" program. It provides each employee a paid day off to volunteer in the community. Employees have used this opportunity to support many local causes such as Flower City Habitat for Humanity, Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, Open Door Mission, Relay For Life, area nursing homes, a horse rescue farm, and a community kitchen.

Habitat for Humanity

On October 17th and 24th, Surmotech personnel joined the Flower City Habitat for Humanity group to build a home in the city of Rochester. Even with sore muscles and aching backs, there were smiles all around as everyone worked hard to help such a worthy cause.

Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester

During Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, several employees decided to create a cookbook entitled "Cooking for a Cure". The cookbooks were given away and donations for theBreast Cancer Coalition of Rochester were accepted. Although the final tally is not in yet, so far nearly all 100 books have been given away and the donation is expected to be in the neighborhood of $1,000.
